Poole House News – 22 May 2026

Dear Poole House Boys and Parents/Carers,

Another busy week in the house as the Year 11’s have completed their first set of exams and are well into the routine of their exams. Well done to all the boys and as I said last week it has been so pleasing to see so many of them coming in for the final bits of advice and support to their lessons. The Year exams have kicked off and yet again well done to those who have started them. The first week back after half term is the end of year School exams for all years. Dr Alderson suggested a revision strategy for all pupils in chapel this week, and I am sure the boys have taken the advice on board. The message was clear, five lots of 50 minutes a day revision, following this make sure you get some rest/play time. Furthermore, there is no such thing as good luck in exams, just good preparation.

This week has also seen the monitor application process, with many boys from our Year 12 applying. Mr Madigan and I were incredibly impressed with all the boys who applied to be monitors and those who applied to be Head of House. We are thrilled to be able to announce that Tom B will be Deputy Head of School, Toby H will be Head of Poole House, John S has also been appointed a school monitor. Kaidon P will be Deputy Head of House and Tin B-D will be Head boarder, Zac J and Joseph S have been successful in becoming house monitors. We are really excited about next year and I am sure this team will work together brilliantly and will do fantastic things for the house and leave a legacy.

Charity information

We will be pushing the boys to start planning some activities which they can be sponsored for. We will be raising money for the Percy Hedley Foundation, a local charity which provides special education, care, support, accommodation, and lifelong learning for people with disabilities. More information on the wonderful work they do may be found on their website here; https://www.percyhedley.org.uk/. Keep an eye out for the events the boys have planned, and please do support the boys with this.
