Support for Durham High School Families

A Message from Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation

We understand that recent news may leave many families feeling uncertain about the future.

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family makes, and when circumstances change unexpectedly, it can be unsettling for pupils and parents alike.

At Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation, we have welcomed girls and boys into our co-educational community for many years. We are committed to supporting any family seeking advice, information or simply a conversation about the options available to them.

Whether your child is in, EYFS, Year 5, preparing for GCSEs, or looking ahead to Sixth Form, our team is here to help.

Every family’s circumstances are different, and every conversation will be treated individually and confidentially.

Frequently asked questions

Will my child be able to continue with the same curriculum and examination courses?

Yes. We understand that continuity of learning is one of the biggest concerns for families considering a move.

Our senior academic team has carefully reviewed curriculum pathways and subject content and is familiar with where programmes align and where there may be differences. In the vast majority of cases, pupils can transition successfully with minimal disruption.

Where there are any differences in subject content or examination boards, we will work closely with each pupil and their family to create an individual transition plan. Our experienced teaching staff will identify any areas that need additional support, ensuring pupils can continue their studies with confidence.

Every child’s educational journey is unique, and we are committed to making any transition as smooth and successful as possible.
