Ed, Year 13 Music Scholar

“The bands offered include choir, brass group, orchestra, string group, saxophone group, guitar group, then there’s musical theatre group, and many more. They’re all really good, you meet new people. On top of that, you have private lessons from teachers who come in from outside the school.”

“I’ve had loads of opportunities, like experiencing rowing for the first time, to get involved with loads of new bands, so orchestra, choir, brass group, jazz band, and it goes on.”

“I joined at Sixth Form, and what really brought it over the line for me was the opportunity to sing in a cathedral, because I had only sung in a small chapel before. It’s like a whole new experience and it’s just really cool.”

Matthew, Year 13

“Sixth Form is the first time I’ve played rugby and cricket. Outside sports, I take part in different societies, like the Heretic Society and senior debating, which has been really good as it gives me a flavour of something I haven’t really done before.”

“The Heretics Society is a platform to speak about a topic that’s a bit controversial and try and convince everyone in the room, whether they’re right or wrong. It’s a way to share something a bit different and it gives you the opportunity to try public speaking and to persuade people.”
