MacLeod News – 03 July 2026

As we reach the end of another fantastic school year, Activities Week has provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate all that the girls have achieved while enjoying a wide range of exciting experiences. Our Year 7 and 8 girls enjoyed a brilliant day at Beadnell, taking part in coasteering and paddleboarding. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination while making the most of the beautiful Northumberland coastline. It was wonderful to see the girls stepping outside their comfort zones, encouraging one another and creating memories.

Meanwhile, our Year 9 and 10 girls took part in an action-packed STEM Day in school. Throughout the day they tackled a variety of exciting team challenges, including CSI, Whacky Racers, the Egg Drop Challenge, Tai Chi, the Drainpipe Challenge and Floor is Lava. Each activity encouraged the girls to think creatively, solve problems, communicate effectively and work collaboratively. It was fantastic to see everyone fully engaged, supporting one another and developing valuable skills while having so much fun.

Wednesday’s colour run provided much anticipation and excitement. The introduction of water pistol stations added an extra dimension to the fun!

Our whole-school Community Day was another highlight of the week as we spent the day at The Grove Primary School. The girls worked with children from Reception to Year 5, supporting a wide range of activities including painting, tennis and listening to children read. They were treated like celebrities by the younger pupils! It was heartwarming to watch our girls interact with the children throughout the day, particularly at breaktime when they became the centre of attention, entertaining and inspiring the younger pupils with their kindness, enthusiasm and maturity.

The House BBQ with Lodge and Pimlico was a wonderful way to celebrate the year together. With live music from local group Northern Daughters, a bouncy castle, a popular photo booth, a live DJ and plenty of laughter, it was a fun-filled evening enjoyed by everyone and a perfect way to round off the school year.

Sports’ Day this morning was the icing on the cake, showcasing fantastic performances across both track and field events. House spirit was in full force, despite the tiredness from having had such a busy week. Congratulations to all our individual winners and everyone who took part with such determination and excellent sportsmanship. A special mention goes to Lotte in Year 10, who broke the Under-15 Girls’ High Jump record—an outstanding achievement. I am delighted to say that MacLeod House were crowned overall winners this year. Well done to everyone involved for making it such a memorable event.

As the summer holidays begin, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and guardians for your continued support throughout the year. Your partnership is greatly appreciated and plays such an important role in the success of our MacLeod House community. I wish you and your families a happy, restful and enjoyable summer break, and we look forward to welcoming the girls back in September for another exciting year ahead.
