It has been another wonderful week of music-making for our Cathedral Choristers as they approach the final week before half term.
Last Sunday, our choristers travelled to St Catherine’s, Crook, to sing for Deanery Evensong. It was a lovely opportunity to share their music beyond the Cathedral and take part in worship with the wider community.
This coming Sunday 18th October, the choristers are looking forward to taking part in the Organ Anniversary Concert at Durham Cathedral, celebrating the Cathedral’s magnificent organ and its important place in our musical heritage. It promises to be a special occasion, bringing together music, celebration and fellowship. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the concert.
On Wednesday 21st October, we will also be delighted to welcome Mr Howard and Mr Hurrell, our two new Choral Scholars, who will be formally admitted to the Choral Foundation during Evensong. This is an exciting occasion for the Cathedral music community, and we wish them both every success in their new roles.
With half term beginning on Friday 23rd October, our choristers can look forward to a well-earned rest after a busy and rewarding few weeks. Choir duties will resume on Saturday 7th November, as we look ahead to another exciting half term of music and worship, including the Cathedral’s Remembrance commemorations.
We are incredibly proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our choristers continue to show, and we thank everyone who supports them in their musical journey.
