House Drama has dominated the house this week and, for those of us there, it was a fantastic event. I thought all of the pupils, across the houses were superb with the overall standard superb. The format was very different with ‘a play in a day’ giving you an idea of the time constraints! The boys were given a choice of three stimuli at 9am yesterday morning with the play performances starting at 4:30pm. As you can imagine, it was an incredibly demanding day for the pupils and I congratulate Charlie D and Jason W for their management of the group. Bungites went for a comedy/horror style piece that managed to place us third overall (behind Lodge and winners Pimlico). As well as Charlie and Jason, I must give a special mention to Jesse E who took on the lead role and scored 29/30 for his performance- superb. In recognition of this, and all Jesse has done for the house, it was my privilege to award him Half House Colours during our House Meeting this morning.
Bungites – 16 October
Academic
Year 11 pupils had their Sixth Form Information Evening on Tuesday with lots of positive feedback received. Our Year 11, and Year 13, boys have big decisions ahead of them and I urge all families to contact us should they need any help or support with these huge decisions. For all parents, staff have been submitting half term grades and these should be with you over half term.
Sport
Our 1st XV enjoyed an excellent weekend up at Merchistan Castle with the boys wining the Plate competition. The standard of rugby was exceptional and the boys’ two defeats were very tight games. All f the boys played their part with Bungites heavily represented (Spencer S, Titus O, Rowan B, Louie M, Lewis S, Will Gdl, Archie M, Simon G, Louie M, Matthew B, Emile and Angus A). The 1st XV backed the performance up with a comprehensive win over Scarborough College on the playground with Archie M amongst the tries. Our U16s were over at Sedbergh for what proved a tough afternoon against always strong opponents. Barney W being the standout Bungite from the game. Our U12s & U13s were in action against Scarborough College yesterday with both year groups fielding A and B sides. Both of the A Teams won with the B teams losing out in what were all competitive games. James Y and Isiah O continued their good form with tries in the U12 A game with Edmund E standing out in the B Team. marketing
DHM Diary – Mr Fordyce
With half-term beckoning, it is time to remind pupils to ensure they organise themselves with their belongings. Ensuring that all necessary books and files along with games kit is taken home by next Friday.
As I mentioned last week it is double down time with work, keeping everything going is getting tougher but that break is in sight.
I will make another plea to the pupils to bring something in to spruce up rooms and to pass any achievements completed outside of School to me.
As of last Friday the top Laud pupils are: in first place Harry M, second equal were James Y and Oliver B, fourth was James K with Seb C and Fraser M in joint fifth place.
Well done to Freddie S and Thomas X for reaching double lauds this week with their cards being presented this morning in House meeting.
Parents’ Drinks
Thank you for those who have RSVP’d to the invitation I sent out earlier in the term and do please continue to send those in once diaries are arranged. I am really looking forward to what is always a great night- it will be here before we know it!
