Speech Day: Celebrating a Year of Achievement at Chorister School

The end of the academic year was marked with two memorable celebrations at Chorister School, as families, pupils and staff came together to reflect on a year filled with achievement, growth and lasting memories.

Our annual Speech Day and Pre-Prep End of Year Celebration provided the perfect opportunity to recognise the hard work, talent and character shown by pupils across every year group, while also celebrating important milestones as children prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.

Both events began with wonderful musical performances from our talented pupils, filling the Chapel with music and setting the tone for two special occasions. It was a pleasure to welcome so many parents, families and friends who joined us to celebrate the successes of our School community.

During Prep Speech Day, pupils in Years 3 to 6 were recognised for their achievements across a wide range of areas, including academic excellence, sport, music and leadership. The presentation of our prestigious Gold MARK Awards celebrated pupils who consistently demonstrated our School values throughout the year.

We were also delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Ms Killpin from the Ogden Trust, whose inspiring address encouraged pupils to remain curious, ambitious and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

In Pre-Prep, every child was celebrated with a special award recognising the qualities that make them unique. Our youngest pupils were thrilled to receive their personalised Mr and Miss Awards, while older children were recognised for demonstrating qualities including kindness, resilience, positivity and excellent manners. Year 2 pupils were presented with their MARK Value Awards, with two pupils receiving the prestigious Shining Star Award in recognition of their exceptional achievements and embodiment of the School’s values.

Both celebrations also marked significant milestones for pupils moving on to the next stage of their education. We proudly celebrated our Year 2 pupils as they completed their Pre-Prep journey ahead of joining Prep School in September, while Speech Day provided the opportunity to recognise our Year 6 pupils as they prepare to begin the next exciting chapter of their education.

Alongside celebrating our pupils, Speech Day also gave us the opportunity to thank several valued members of staff for their dedication and service to Chorister School. In particular, we bid a fond farewell to our Headteacher, Mrs Harrod, recognising her outstanding contribution to the School community and the lasting impact she has made on generations of pupils and colleagues.

The celebrations concluded with the congregation joining together to sing I Vow to Thee, My Country in the beautiful Chapel before pupils and families enjoyed time together outdoors, bringing another successful academic year to a fitting close.

As we reflect on another fantastic year, we congratulate every pupil on all they have achieved. From academic success and musical performances to sporting accomplishments, acts of kindness and personal growth, every child has contributed to making this a truly memorable year at Chorister School.

We wish all of our pupils a wonderful summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting year in September.
