Anti-Bullying Awareness Week: Working Together as One Community

Next week, Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation will be proudly taking part in Anti-Bullying Awareness Week, a national initiative that encourages schools to stand together against bullying and celebrate kindness, respect, and inclusion. To prepare for the week, our Durham School Wellbeing Ambassadors visited the Choristers to meet with their primary-aged Wellbeing Ambassador counterparts. This visit was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen connections between both sites of our school community.

During the afternoon, the students worked together to design vibrant anti-bullying posters that will be displayed around the school next week. These posters focus on the importance of standing up for others, spreading kindness, and celebrating our differences. It was inspiring to see our Year 13 pupils supporting and guiding the younger students, while the younger pupils shared their own ideas with confidence and enthusiasm.

Alongside creating posters, we spent time talking about why it is important to be kind to others and how even small positive actions can make a big difference. The session also allowed our Sixth Form ambassadors and the Choristers to get to know each other better, ending with a relaxed lunch and conversation in the dining hall. The pupils enjoyed the chance to build friendships across year groups and learn from one another.

Throughout next week, we will continue to reflect on our shared MARK values; Moral Integrity, Ambition, Responsibility, and Kindness. These values help guide the way we treat one another and are at the heart of our Foundation’s strong community spirit. To celebrate the end of Anti-Bullying Awareness Week, pupils at Durham School are invited to wear odd socks on Friday as a fun reminder that our differences make us unique. Normal uniform applies, but students are encouraged to express themselves proudly through their mismatched socks.
