I hope that, if you’re reading this, it’s with your feet up and Friday’s G&T in your hand. We have reached the end of a very busy eight weeks and everyone deserves a break. This is certainly true for girls who are now showing obvious signs of tiredness and who clearly need to recharge. May I encourage them to rest well by catching up on sleep, but also by spending time outdoors and enjoying fresh air and exercise? As ever, I hope girls also benefit from regular breaks from phones and technology.
The last week of this half term has been a happy one, filled as it was, with hockey. Our senior girls did particularly well, winning two of the Inter-House games and coming in second overall. Juniors also came in second after MacLeod, year 7s really enjoying their first Inter-House Sports game. Those who participated in the Intermediate section also deserve thanks and praise, especially as numbers here were very low. Thank you to all our players for showing enthusiasm, grit and, in many cases, courage.

Music continues to grace Pimlico House both behind the scenes and in the Common Room and I was happy to hear that our Music Scholars performed well in Wednesday’s concert. I certainly hope to be at the winter concert next half term. In addition, I look forward to hearing girls begin their practice for the Inter-House singing competition now that the theme has been announced. I trust that monitors and senior girls will put their heads together soon and be ready for rehearsals when we return.
As we look forward to a well-earned rest, I urge exam groups to view the two weeks ahead as valuable consolidation and preparation time. With correct discipline and focus, GCSE and A-level classes should use this time to improve their subjects, as well as rest and recuperate.
Finally, I would like to alert all parents to the Pimlico Christmas drinks which will be held from 4.30pm – 6.30pm in the Orangery on 27th November. Please do put this date in your diaries: It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible at this event – even if you are only able to call in for a few minutes!
In the meantime, have a wonderful half term break.
