MacLeod – 9 October

This week has come and gone in a flash with many girls busy with fixtures, STEM trips, socials, GCSE Drama performances, as well as the usual day to day commitments.
MacLeod Traitors!
We have really captured the imagination of the girls this week with the launch of our version of The Traitors! After our house meeting this morning, the Traitors have been let loose to start their tasks to ‘kill’ the Faithful. We have recruited one Traitor per tutor group and one member of staff. Each tutor group will have a number of opportunities to banish Traitors over the next 2 weeks until we are left with those who have survived both being killed and voted off. Immunity shields can be won by Faithful by finding a MacLeod shield or by doing acts of kindness witnessed by staff – these shields grant the girls immunity from murder for 48 hours only!
Will the Traitors be able to outwit the Faithful or will the Faithful be able to work out who is on a killing spree?
2 weeks of Traitors fun in MacLeod… Let the games begin.
Year 9 Social
The Year 9 girls enjoyed pizza and games on Wednesday. Lots of laughter could be heard from the common room where the girls took a turn on the karaoke machine and played Herd Mentality, one of our favourite board games where the idea is to have the same answers as everyone else. My thanks go to Dr Hardy for organising it and to Chinmayi, Faye and Grace, our Sixth Form prefects who helped on the night.
Year 12 Parent’s Evening
I hope parents found the first chance of the A-Level and Btec courses to touch base with teachers useful. The girls certainly seemed to think it had gone well and are clear on what the expectations are for them moving forwards.
Open Morning
My thanks goes to all the girls who supported the school with the Foundation Open Morning on Saturday, particularly the girls who were based in MacLeod. It was lovely to meet prospective families and show them everything that we are as a house. The girls baked some wonderful cookies to offer to our visitors which certainly went down well.
Sixth Form Open Evening – Tuesday 13th October
Year 11 pupils and parents are invited to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Tuesday. This provides an opportunity for conversations regarding subject options with all departments doing presentations about their subjects, as well as more information about what life is like in the Sixth Form. This is a particularly exciting time as the newly renovated Vallance Building is due to open soon with much improved facilities for our Sixth Form which the girls will be able to take full advantage of.
*MacLeod will close at 5.55pm on Tuesday to allow all girls and staff to be in attendance. Early tea will be served at 5pm.
House Drama
With a new format this year, a ‘Play in a Day’, the girls who have been successful in auditioning will be put to the test next Thursday. We are very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
Half Term Collection
Advanced information about collection on the day we break up for October Half Term, Friday 23rd  October.
