Durham School Boat Club is delighted to welcome a new Wintech Cobra 4x racing shell, supplied by leading rowing equipment company Oarsport.
The arrival of the new boat represents a significant investment in the future of rowing at Durham School, providing our athletes with a high-performance racing shell to support the continued development of junior rowing at the School.
The Cobra 4x will be named the Max George 4x, in memory of Old Dunelmian Max George, who tragically lost his life while serving with the British Army on Salisbury Plain.
Max’s memory remains an important part of the Durham School community. Naming the boat in his honour provides a lasting way to remember him and ensures that his name will continue to be carried by future generations of Durham School rowers.
The new shell will provide an excellent platform for developing crew boat rowing, technical skills and racing performance. As crews take to the River Wear and compete at regattas across the country, they will carry Max’s name with pride, reflecting the dedication, teamwork and commitment that are central to rowing and to the wider Durham School community.
Durham School Boat Club would also like to acknowledge Oarsport, and particularly Jack Wilson, for their ongoing support and expertise in supplying the new Wintech Cobra 4x.
The arrival of the Max George 4x marks an exciting new chapter for Durham School Boat Club. We look forward to seeing the boat on the River Wear and at regattas across the country in the years ahead, supporting our rowers as they continue to develop, compete and achieve.
