Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation (DCSF) is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the Pupil Wellbeing Award by School Impact, accredited by Optimus Education, following a rigorous three-year assessment process.
The award recognises the Foundation’s commitment to creating a culture where wellbeing is valued, understood and actively promoted across every aspect of school life. Throughout the assessment, DCSF provided extensive evidence demonstrating the positive impact of its wellbeing provision on pupils, with assessors highlighting the strength of the Foundation’s whole-school approach.
Assessors praised the wide range of opportunities and support available to pupils, noting that pupils were able to clearly articulate how the Foundation helps them to feel supported, connected and able to thrive. The report recognised the strong sense of belonging experienced across the Foundation and the positive role wellbeing plays in the daily lives of pupils.
A key factor in achieving the award was the Foundation’s comprehensive wellbeing strategy, which includes the GROWTH framework, dedicated wellbeing education programmes, enrichment opportunities, peer mentoring initiatives, wellbeing ambassadors and enhanced pastoral support systems. Together, these initiatives help ensure that pupils are supported both academically and personally throughout their educational journey.
The award reflects the collective efforts of staff, pupils, parents and governors, all of whom have contributed to embedding wellbeing at the heart of Foundation life.
This recognition reinforces Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation’s ongoing commitment to providing an environment in which every pupil feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.
