Pre-School and Pre-Prep Weekly Blog

It has been a wonderful to welcome all the children back after the Easter break and to have been able to get outside and enjoy the glorious sunshine.  It has been a busy start to the Summer Term.  Spring is in full bloom and Reception and Year 2 have made the best of this. Reception have been gardening this week, planting potatoes and transferring their bean plants.  Year 2 were making observations of plants in the garden by the Cathedral and then sketched them, labelling their different parts.  As part of this term’s Topic on Treasures of the North East, Pre School have focused on the Cathedral which they looked at it from the garden and researched online.  They also investigated the St Cuthbert’s crosses on their jumpers.   The children then made stained glass windows and their own crosses.  As part of their topic on ‘Dinosaurs’, Year 1have painted an enormous dinosaur for the classroom.  They then designed their own dinosaur egg which they will create next week using papier-mache.
