EDI Week began with Monday’s assembly, where Dr Alderson introduced the theme of prejudice and asked an important question: Why do equality, diversity, and inclusion matter?
Throughout the week, pupils across the Houses took part in a variety of engaging activities — from sharing what equality means to them on our Wall of Respect, to celebrating global cultures during Tuesday’s Culture Showcase.
On Wednesday, pupils added their promises to our Pledge Tree, committing to stand up against discrimination and support inclusion. Thursday’s tutor time focused on what it means to be an ally and how we can all promote fairness in our school community.
The week concluded with a celebration of inclusion during the Cathedral service, alongside a display in Big School highlighting the week’s many moments of learning and reflection. Every pupil also received a red pin badge to wear proudly on their blazer in support of Show Racism the Red Card Day.
A huge thank you to Mrs Thompson and our Wellbeing Ambassadors for leading so many insightful and inspiring projects throughout EDI Week
Poole House
The Poole House staff would like to thank all the boys for their fantastic efforts this term — whether in the classroom, on the sports field, in the theatre or music rooms, or during the many after-school activities.
A special mention goes to our Year 7 pupils for settling into Poole House life so quickly, and to our Year 13 boys for being such supportive role models to our new Poolelites.
Looking ahead, Poole House boys will be planning fundraising activities over the holidays in support of the Percy Hedley Foundation, a local charity that provides education, care, support, accommodation, and lifelong learning opportunities for people with disabilities.
The Caffinites
The Caffinites would like to thank everyone who visited on Open Day — it was wonderful to welcome so many guests and share our House spirit.
We’d also like to express our gratitude to Charlie C, James T, and Danny E for their hard work in arranging and conducting songs for the upcoming House Music Competition.
School House
Before the end of term, the Year 10 boys in School House enjoyed a relaxed social — sharing pizzas, laughter, and plenty of good conversation.
The House would also like to commend the fantastic performances from all those who took part in the Scholars’ Music Recital. Well done to everyone who showcased their talent and hard work!
Pimlico House
After seven weeks of hard work, Pimlico House encourages everyone to take a well-earned rest over the holidays and enjoy some time outdoors in the fresh air.
This term’s final Friday Fun Award went to Tian H, recognised as their youngest non-native English speaker who has done brilliantly in this first half term. Well done, Tian!
The House also looks forward to welcoming as many parents and guardians as possible to the Pimlico Drinks Event on Friday, 7 November.
Lodge House
Lodge House girls ended the term on a high, with the Year 8 team winning their House Hockey match and the Year 9s and 10s taking an impressive second place. Well done, everyone!
The House also celebrated in true spooky style with a fantastic Halloween Party, which saw over half the House join in the fun. With Mrs Fordyce and Miss Black in full witch mode, there were plenty of tricks and treats to enjoy!
Congratulations to Calli for Best Individual Costume, Emily and Joey for Best Pair, and Freya, Rosie, Amy, and Grace for Best Group Costume!
MacLeod House
As Mrs Myers-Bruin has now started her maternity leave, MacLeod House is now led by Mrs Gowland as Acting Senior Headmistress and Mrs Wilkinson as Acting Deputy Housemistress. We wish Mrs Myers-Bruin all the best!
MacLeod House also reflected on the House Hockey competition, mentioning that it was great to see such passion for the Houses and the friendly but fierce competition.
We hope you have all enjoyed a brilliant start to the year and look forward to welcoming you all back after a restful holiday.
