Activity Week was packed full of exciting experiences and a fantastic way to wrap up the term with creativity, exploration, and teamwork!
Year 7 enjoyed a week full of hands-on learning, including an unforgettable Science Fair. We witnessed the many incredible projects that pupils had worked tirelessly on. Pupils researched and produced their own projects independently on topics ranging from homemade robots to fingerprinting. Well done to all for such brilliant work.
Year 7 also enjoyed a geography trip to Saltburn and a Shakespeare workshop. They stepped back in time through both a Medieval Durham Challenge and a Norse Workshop and took part in a cultural experience with a French breakfast and quiz. They also joined Year 8 in taking part in Rookie Lifeguard training, learning essential water safety skills.
Alongside their lifeguard training, Year 8 hit the waves with a surfing session in Tynemouth, where they learned the basics of getting out on the water and gaining confidence on the board. They put their problem-solving to the test in the Physics Olympiad and travelled back in time on an English trip to Beamish for a Victorian Day experience.
Year 9 explored the intersection of geography and art on a trip to Staithes, focusing on the beautiful coastal landscapes. They spent some important time deepening their understandings of key historical events on a visit to the Holocaust Survivor Centre at Huddersfield University. They also created their own signature scents during perfume making and challenged themselves outdoors with orienteering and an introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Year 10 enjoyed an action-packed itinerary, including a day out at the North Yorkshire Water Park with a game of laser tag afterwards. They enjoyed a creative music day, and the chance to develop their own fragrances in perfume making. Those wanting to dive deeper into History took a trip to York, and geographers investigated coastal landscapes on a field trip to Tynemouth.
The week ended on a high note for everyone, with a vibrant celebration of community and competition during House Cricket, Sports Day, and House BBQs – a perfect finale to a brilliant week!
