Chorister School’s Activity Week was a joyful and rewarding celebration of the year, packed with learning through fun experiences and time spent together as a community.
Pupils showed great spirit and enthusiasm during Sports Days, giving their all in a range of athletics events and cheering on their peers. They also had the chance to connect with nature through a Forest School session. Pupils explored nature around our site, identifying plants and creatures and building confidence in the great outdoors.
A Road Safety Training session with Durham County Council helped students learn important life skills, while the week also offered plenty of time for celebration – including a party with their year group, full of laughter, games, and shared memories.
A highlight for many was trying something new with a few hours of True Padel, giving everyone a taste of this exciting and fast-growing sport.
Throughout the week, pupils took part in House activities ranging from business to arts and crafts. Alongside games of cricket in the sunshine, pupils attended a creative “STEMwellgate” workshop where pupils were challenged with building the tallest tower out of balloons. Pupils became entrepreneurs in a Dragon’s Den challenge where they designed problem-solving products.
As part of our commitment to character development, students also reflected on our MARK values, looking at ways to carry them forward into the next academic year and apply them during the summer holidays and beyond.
On the final day of term, KS1 had a ‘fantastic finish’ to their topics with Earth Superheroes Day. Children and staff dressed in green and blue or as superheroes and enjoyed some activities to help them think about our planet and how we can help protect it. They studied and sketched leaves, went litter picking, enjoyed themed party games, practiced mindfulness and designed a superhero who could save the Earth! A great way to consolidate learning!
The year ended on a high with House Cricket and a wonderful Speech Day, celebrating all the achievements, growth, and memories of the year.
