The variety of academic and co-curricular options on offer at Durham School opens up a world of possibilities for our pupils when they move on to the next chapter in their lives.

The vast majority (90%) of Durham School students progress to university with dedicated assistance and expertise from our staff.

Of the other 10%, a wide and varied set of career paths are opened up by the underpinning purpose of the school to develop young women and men who have the confidence to pursue their dreams.

How do we achieve this when we are not highly selective?

Our excellent teaching staff are highly qualified and committed to helping our Sixth Form pupils; many provide extra lunch-time clinics where pupils are able to access help outside of the classroom in a relaxed environment. The class sizes in the Sixth Form are small, allowing pupils to engage in personal seminar-like lessons that mirror the way pupils will learn at university.
